What is Exposure?
Exposure is all to do with the amount of lighting in a photograph.
There is 3 types of exposure, they are:
Under Exposed
This is when the picture is very dark and you can hardly see anything but the lighter items. This is because there is not enough light in the picture. A great way to remember this, is to imagine if you are under something for example a bed then it would be dark.
Normal Exposure
This is when the picture is normal, meaning it has the correct amount of lighting in. Not too light but not too dark, it be's just right!
Over Exposed
This is when the picture is very light and you can hardly see anything but the darker items. This is because there is too much light in the picture. A great way to remember this, is imagine the stars or the sun shining bright over you.
The Exposure Compensation Dial
This dial is where you can monitor the exposure of your picture. When it is on -3 to -2 then that means that your picture will turn out to be under exposed however, if it is on 3 to 2 then your picture will turn out to be over exposed. To get your picture perfect you need it to be normal exposure, which then this dial must be on 0 (right in the centre).

Some cameras have an exposure line, this is normally a bright green colour, which you can set whilst looking through the lens and scrolling across. It can change itself depending on where you point the camera due to how much light is taken in through the lens so you must constantly check it before taking a picture.
